As declarations go, this one on NBC by former president Jimmy Carter was pretty darn declarative.
While there is doubt that racism is still an issue in the country, criticism of the Obama administration is not so much the result of racial hatred. Even president Obama, either trying to appeal to his white constituents, or just not agreeing with Carter, disagrees with Carter.
This is what the president said when he was asked about Carter’s declarations on the David Letterman’s show.

Obama has been criticized just like FDR was criticized during the great depression; Clinton attacked during the impeachment; President Bush hated for the war in Iraq.
President Obama is not necessarily under constant criticism due to his race, rather because of the high standards set by the Democrats during the campaign. Candidate Obama promised change, hope, and a new kind of politics. The expectations have been many. Obama set the standards too high indeed. So did the American people.
Just thinking….

Racism- is the belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.........i disagree with you and president obama aquiles.(lol) i agree with president carter. if u lived in florida and walked in our shoes you would see why. i see racism almost on a daily basis in my town. since obama has been elected it's like racism times a million in florida. it is very noticable. obama says he was black before he became president. hmmmm. yes this is true, BUT he promised CHANGE!!! This is why people voted for him because we were tired of our economic conditions and we wanted change. Trust me, people did NOT vote for him because he was black!!I think president obama is being ignorant on the letterman show. Because he is black, I feel that people (at least in florida) bash him more. let me give an example: when the guy yelled "liar" to obama during his health care speech. Our local news and radio station played it over and over and over and they still bring the topic up till this day. They tried to justify why there was nothing wrong with the guy calling obama a liar. obviously this is wrong, and there is no justification. HOWEVER, when the guy threw a shoe at bush a little while ago, our news stations and radio didn't play this incident over and over and over and they didn't mock it as much.(like i said at least in florida and from my observances)Also, i have a scholary politics radio station that I listen to based out of washingtgon, dc. they CONSTANTLY bash obama. And, i've heard them say because he is black "he has great ideas of change but because he is black he doesn't know how to properly lead a country, because he wasn't taught any better" Racism is very real and prevelant in our society and my view on the presidency and racism are just opinions. I know MANY people of different races that LOVE obama but I also think that his presidency will not go as well as it would have if he was a white male, because a white male is the norm and society accepts this. But society hasn't really larned to accept an african american man "running their country."
I agree. He promised a lot and still has not delivered. But then again, it is only less than a year of his presidency. Time will tell...I hope he can accomplish a lot of the things he promised...
I am one of those people who felt Obama was given the Nobel prize too early. I felt like he needed to prove himself first. After all, anyone could have been the first black president, but it takes a very special person to be a great one.
