Thinking: It's an ICE CREAM World

Unless you are lactose intolerant, you have probably thought about, eaten, and enjoyed ice cream at one point in your life. What a weird topic to talk about, but what a delicious one.

Tonight at the University of Virginia, specifically in my dormitory, I joined a group of estrangers and soon-to-be friends for an ice cream social. The event was organized by the Resident Assistants (RA) in an effort to integrate the community of students who live in this eleven floor building.

The estrangers I met over ice cream tonight are now my neighbors. We talked about getting lost on campus, track of studies, roommates, simply random topics over delicious ice cream. Some of them had vanilla flavor, while others, including myself, had the famous chocolate flavor with Oreo, M & M, caramel, and chocolate syrup toppings.

The ice cream flavors reflected our diversity as a student body; A diversity that unites us over ice cream, as we begin and continue our academic journeys at the university. That's the type of things that ice cream can do for you.

Just thinking...

Hmm, I guess I never really thought about ice cream as a unifying force, to be honest. It's sort of interesting though- something a majority of people enjoy, which makes it much easier to socialize and have a good time, because it's a universal appeal. YUM.
