Sunday Afternoon on the Grass

This Sunday afternoon the temperature was like no other autumn day. The dry leaves have covered the green grass—and I take a break to lie down on it and appreciate the minutes that go by.

I was on the phone with the cousin in the Dominican Republic when I took this picture. Noon time for me; 1:00pm in the Caribbean. Our conversation extended a bridge of hope and joy between the Dominican island and the American North.

The Fall reminds me of Juan Luis Guerra, a famous Dominican artist who sings:

In the autumn, instead of dry leaves,
may my harvest be dressed in pitisalĂ© [a bacon-like salted pork].Plant a field of sweet potatoes and strawberries/

May it rain coffee in the countryside.
Let a downpour of cassava and tea fall.
From the skies a drizzle of white cheese,
And to the south a mountain of watercress and honey.

Just thinking…

Those song lyrics are beautiful...
