We were having one of our usual conversations. Many miles separate us, yet our hearts connect with such intensity that even when the Potomac River in the nation’s capital and the Empire State building in New York City stand between us, our mutual respect and reciprocal love continues to grow.
The other night on the phone she confused me. Sometimes I simply do not know how to act around her, or how to love her, even talk to her. Her mix signals confuse me and I simply end up clueless as I walk through life far away from her. Yet, the other night on the phone she attempted to rescue me as the confusion blocked my heart.
She tells me that although she does not like to be told she is beautiful—because she doesn’t need a man to lift her self-esteem—that although she does not believe in love letters or lyrics from “emo” melodies—she loves to hear me say she is beautiful, read my love letters, and share my “emo” melodies. She claims I am her perfect opposite; the guy she can talk to about anything; the boy she was afraid of committing to; the boy she loves to be committed to.
We are two opposite individuals trying to connect our hearts despite of the geographic distance between us. And although confusion might invade our minds from time to time, we manage to grow the intensity of our relationship by learning new things about each other whenever we talk on the phone.

This post made me feel all warm and happy inside. Long distance relationships are so difficult, but the excitement and nervousness of romance you relay in your writing is just beautiful. It reminds me of the days when Rian used to live across town and with our busy schedules, we wouldn't see each other that often. I used to spend all day waiting impatiently for our late night phone calls...sigh. Sometimes just hearing that person's voice is the most intimate experience in the world.
awe. that's too sweet!
this is beautiful. :o long distance relationships can be hard but i believe true love can overcome things like that and it becomes stronger every time
thats so sweet, long distance relationships are hard and I have been there twice...but sometimes the connection you build through really getting to know eachother is amazing...just like what you are doing with her.....
